Editorial Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in posting to SomethinOuttaNothin.com! I’m always excited to receive unique, high-quality contributor posts from a medley of thought persuasions that will help, support, teach and inspire my readers.

Before submitting your post for review please read our guidelines carefully.

Submission of a post does not guarantee publication or contributor status! To give your post the best chance possible of publication follow these guidelines as close as possible.

Any post published on this site needs to stay within the spirit of SomethinOuttaNothin.com. Which is to support thriving on less with either: time tested tips to do so; creative solutions for the home; inspiring stories, or emotional support for this life style.

At this time we are only accepting excellent original posts (i.e. posts and photos never been published any where on the internet before-including your own blog). It is more than appropriate to post a paragraph or two on your blog with a link to the full post.

Posts over 750 words will be discarded so please check that before submission. This can be done easily if you first write your post in a word document or by using the word count tool at http://www.wordcounttool.com/.

We are looking for high quality writing that includes few (if any) spelling, grammar or punctuation errors. This is simply for the sake of time, so the less errors the more likely for publication your post will be.

Readability is also key. The easier to skim the better. Be liberal with white space. Long paragraphs are hard to focus on so don’t have paragraphs longer than a few sentences. When a paragraph needs to be longer break it down visually with the use of bullets or listing.

When submitting your post below in the contact form please include the following: your URL (if appicable). Your post title, the body of your post, and a short bio.

Write a short bio about yourself (50 words or less). It makes the post more personable and enjoyable to read. Feel free to include a link to your site.

SomethinOuttaNothin.com does not offer monetary compensation for submissions or published contributor posts at this time.

While this is a place about creativity and I certainly don’t want to put a damper on anyone’s creativity, these guidelines are needed in order to make the submission process possible. The more closely you comply with these guidelines the more likely it is that you will be chosen for publication on SomethinOuttaNothin.com.

If you submit a post or a query (pitch) I’ll typically get back to you within 2 weeks. If you haven’t heard from me after 4 weeks you can assume I decided not to use it and are free to submit elsewhere. If I do choose to publish your post it will likely be within 6 weeks of submission.

Once again thank you for your interest in SomethinOuttaNothin.com, I can’t wait to see what you’re writing!
