Crazy is my cause

“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes … the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. … You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things. … They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

If you’ve read my manifesto you know I want to help others bring change into their lives. By nature I’m scared of change and I avoid it at all costs. After going through the fire of grad school I now embrace change (to some extent, not all the way there yet) and initiate it to make life better. My goal is to bring a spirit of creativity back into this world.  Creativity helps on so many different levels. With it we find answers in our own lives, initiate better practices, and ultimately save time and money.

Employers love to hear examples of your creativity during an interview. Its like a buzz word in the business world.  It means you’re a self starter who looks for new ways to solve problems.

Sadly I fear we are seeing less and less creativity in this world.  Why? It takes guts to try something new, to go out on the limb of the unknown.  To put ourselves out in a position to potentially be shut down and fail.

Failing is better than never trying

I love Disney’s movie Meet the Robinson’s. There’s a scene in there where Lewis fails miserably and instead of meeting the rejection he expected he’s surrounded by loving faces telling him how awesome he did.  Billy tells him ‘from failure you learn, success not so much.’  How amazing would it be if we could grow a community with that sort of spirit? To encourage each other in our striving to be better, to support each other in our down times, and go bonkers when we make it?

I would like to encourage crazy in this little corner of the world. Read Steve Jobs quote and see where you fit. Are you crazy enough to think that you can make a difference in this world? Or are you starting on that journey still carressing the safety of the status quo? Let me encourage you to take a leap of faith in yourself and try something new this week.

What new thing do you wish you had the guts to try?
